What is the Call to Caring?

Who do you care for and love? How do we use our personal capacity to create a more compassionate culture? The Call to Caring is an local movement in King County, Washington starting with a community-wide dialogue that moves our mindset from "I" to "we" and transforms barriers to bridges in order for all of us to take action to create and establish a caring culture.

Over the summer months a group of organizations and individuals convened four community assemblies to act as a catalyst to start a community dialogue around caring and how to move toward developing a caring culture. Over one hundred individuals around King County attended one of the four assemblies and responded to this initial call.

Where do we go now? What actions do we take together? Stay tuned and engaged as we create this together.

It was good to see everyone again today.  It was clear to all of us that attended that  is a growing need to make and respond to a Call to Caring.  May it be so!

How about a discussion about what was resolved at the Communicopia?

Martha, I will come to set-up for the Communicopia with you and the kitchen elves. I can be there by 2:30, if that works. I'll bring table clothes/fabrics and serving dishes, as well as beverages. If there's anything specific, let me know. I just bought a ticket so, I'll see you there.

I know of 50 more people who got laid off today from their city jobs and more anticipating the next round. What kind of a world are we headed for where one goes to work everyday in an evironment where wonder if they will be spared from lay offs? I offer my gifts of support in that arena, wherever I can, whether it be helping someone mobilize or overcome the fear, or make it to their next step. And I begin that here!

Greetings! I recommend that we invite whoever is coming to the cmmunicopia dinner to join this group. We can then be together face to face with an understanding that we are connected.

In the summer months a collection of groups and individuals assembled others to join a community conversation on how we care for each other. Four assemblies took place throughout Seattle and King County where we following questions were posed:

What does a caring culture look and feel like?
What is going on that supports a caring culture? And what is going on that presents a barrier to developing a caring culture?

What will you contribute to the Call to Caring process to see this happen?

Take a look at the compile responses here 1st Assembly Feedback.doc
