Hi Anne:

I just looked at SOIL

Very interesting

When you have a moment please take a look at my new work at www.commongoodworks.org

Wondering if our approach to leadership would help SOIL

BGI has been a very good partner I wonder if same could be true for SOIL?

Blessings,

Bill

Great Anne! I'll take you up on the organizational help, and will pass this opportunity on to my troupe, I'm sure we can do it!

The Duwamish Alive event is April 17th. I'll return on the 2nd. Will be delighted to help with a Threshold Ensemble story-telling event during or after that event IF Cat can get one scheduled. There are TONS of stories there: native, fisherpeople, community councils, etc. So Threshhold could be a GREAT climax for a work day of compassionately caring for the Duwamish and everything in and around it. At the end we could pass out handouts for the Compassionate Cities campaign too. As a matter of fact, I would think the Duwamish organizers would've already signed up for same.

Another potential "help" is the Beloved Community group. Could you get in touch with Mark Jones? You could meet with them at their March meeting, 3rd Wednesday of every month. They're involved in the arts, the environment, etc. Check them out on CAN Groups. Okay?

SO HAPPY to SEE you here my dear Cat! Love, Anne

Thanks, Cat. I understand what you're saying, and you, Anne and others could certainly explore this kind of event; I don't know if there are many stories coming out of the Duwamish work event to provide material. I was just inviting the simple and direct option, that CAN might want to form a work team for the event.
My own interest is not drawn to creating new events, but to going deeper in the things I'm already doing, so I won't be participating as an organizer in CAN's events this April due to other deep commitments. My comments this morning were to suggest that the Compassionate Cities movement could gain strength and speak more meaningfully to a greater range of people if care for the environment was clearly part of the movement. I think the petition could gain more traction with a wider view of what compassion includes. Thanks!

So sorry I had to leave in the middle of the meeting (I naively thought my pup would love running around Jon's great back yard: so sorry for the disruptions she/we caused...). I look forward to hearing the outcomes.

Connie, Anne is talking about a way of sharing the stories from the Duwamish Project, that's what Threshold Ensemble does, re enacts personal story. www.thresholdensemble.org
It can raise awareness, create deep connection and enhance collaboration.

The Duwamish Alive! event is a hands-on restoration activity at nine different sites along the river which will involve about 1,000 people. Pulling out invasive species, mulching, planting new native plants, that sort of thing. If people wanted to participate as a group, that could be arranged, but the agenda is pretty specific and work-related. Kids can come, too, but if they're under ten need one-on-one accompaniment. http://www.pugetsound.org/events/duwamishalive/da/?searchterm=Duwamish%20Alive

How about Art with Heart at several of the sites that Connie mentions--during April?? Cat: don't you have tons of contacts? Threshhold folks: stories of compassionate action at the Duwamish site? Christian Swenson? Chris Jordan? Peter Donaldson (Salmon People, already working with PPS)--to name but a FEW!!!? Can't we ask them to contribute, and ask folks to "gift" to them and the project??

Connie? Cat? Anyone who wants/can organze at least ONE of these ideas?

Love, Anne
