Thanks, Cat. I understand what you're saying, and you, Anne and others could certainly explore this kind of event; I don't know if there are many stories coming out of the Duwamish work event to provide material. I was just inviting the simple and d…

The Duwamish Alive! event is a hands-on restoration activity at nine different sites along the river which will involve about 1,000 people. Pulling out invasive species, mulching, planting new native plants, that sort of thing. If people wanted to p…

PS There are legions of deeply compassionate people engaged in the work of environmental protection but, generally speaking, none of that activity is framed in the language of compassion. By not pointing out that this work is compassionate, we sort…

Hi, Jon and all - Best of good fortune with the meeting today and going forward. I've sent a couple of messages privately about "compassion and the environment," and am wondering if you are including long-term action on behalf of the environment as…

Jon, what a wonderful video - so true! That's what we all did for the original Seeds of Compassion - just dropped our differences and hesitation and contributed to the plan that existed, made it real. Before too long, everybody wanted to be part of…

Hi, I have another major commitment today. Necessarily, I'm more of a cheerleader these days than an active participant in CAN. Here's wishing you every good fortune in planning. Cheers, Connie

Gross National Happiness is way of life in Bhutan

The NY Times has a very interesting story on the Gross National Happiness movement in the kingdom of Bhutan. It's especially interesting in view of last night's program with actor Michael J. Fox, who is known for dealing nobly with Parkinson's Disease. As part of… Continue

Hi - I am writing to ask for your support in creating a compassionate world. When I started the Compassionate Action Network I was hoping that social networks could be part of how we activate the will and find a way to make just and lasting change. I am grateful that you joined this network and I sincerely hope that it has made some difference in your life and your community.

It was the action part of compassionate action that got my attention. So now I invite you to be part of taking another step forward together. I ask that you take two minutes to join the 10 Year Campaign for Compassionate Cities if you haven’t already.

We need 1,000 people to join by March 15 to have the Mayor and City Council follow through on their end. If you personally join the campaign and share or send this on to others we will take a big collective step forward in building our capacity to make change happen. This is not just another petition, what you do will make a difference. You can learn more about this here

You don’t need to be a Seattle resident to join this campaign, and this idea is spreading. Campaigns have started or are starting in Vancouver, BC, Bellingham, Bellevue, Issaquah, Spokane, Portland, San Francisco, and London.

If there ever was a time to stand together and affirm that what each of us does and does not do makes a difference it is now. I ask that you find the time to add your name to the growing list of people awakening compassion in our cities and our world. Join here now
