Hello Janet Ann,
I believe it is important to be self-compassionate, hence recognize our own livelihood issues (food, shelter, clothing, warmth, health and relationship) as well as recognize our common complementary forces to achieve these together. The word 'community' from the Latin = 'com' = 'together' + 'munus' = 'gift or service'. The indigenous traditions of accounting/recognizing each other are outlined at www.indigenecommunity.info Compassion is not just about giving but requires whole systems living design to receive as well reciprocally. We aren't gods (metaphors) who can just give eternally but mortal beings with limits by way of we learn compassion and caring within finite limits and eternal love.

One more thought: Seattle called on cities around the world to affirm the Charter. Perhaps Canada can also call on countries around the world to affirm the charter and have a national discussion about how to live up to it?

Hi Jannet - Congrats on your work to have Canada become the first nation to affirm the Charter. This might help unleash the competitive spirit around the world, but in a healthy manner that will have a positive impact?

Also, on this week's conference call, we were trying to figure out where you were in the photo with your flowery crown? Hawaii? Tahiti? It's lovely!
