Launch of Seattle's Innovation Engine

One way to bring this lesson into focus is to be mindful of the invitation that a "lone nut" offers to those around him/her. By making the activity inviting and desirable, the lone nut stands out as one to emulate. This is truly an…

Thank you Barack Obama for taking my question. Previously you said we need 'to sharpen our instincts for empathy' and you have repeatedly talked about the importance of empathy and compassion in our society. My question is, what do you feel we can do to create a culture that supports and nurtures empathy and compassion?
btw,, here are some articles on the empathy compassion discussion between conservatives and progressives.. link to George Lakoffs latest article as well.

Joe — I just noticed that you've joined us here on the Compassionate Action Network. Welcome. How wonderful to have you with us. If you haven't done so already, please consider joining the Ten Year Campaign for Compassionate Cities. I'd love to see you become a part of this important and rewarding initiative. If we get the support of at least 1,000 people by March 15, 2010, then the City of Seattle will affirm the Charter for Compassion — a first step in connecting people for compassionate action. My understanding is that you don't have to be from Seattle to sign on. Right now, we need 271 more signatures in the next few days to reach that goal. Please take just a moment to add your name. And please invite others to do the same.

Also, I posted a wonderful music video from Amnesty International — "The Price of Silence." It's well worth viewing.
