I am a licensed mental health counselor and advanced clinical hypnotherapist in Seattle and Bellevue, WA in private practice since 1989, serving the needs of adults, families, children and groups. Several counseling associations have welcomed me as a fellow, diplomate and board member. I integrate a rich array of therapeutic approaches and modalities acquired from over 35 years of human service work, professional training, as well as my own depth work. My practice encompasses family systems, somatic psychotherapy, energy and mind/body psychology, anxiety and trauma relief, art and movement therapy, process-oriented psychology, expressive psychotherapy, life transition and career consultation, and focus related groups for adults and children. In addition to my private practice I am a community builder, change catalyst, and leadership consultant, having seeded hundreds of groups, including fostering and supporting a bioregional hub of 25 globally interconnected community groups focused on consciousness for the last 15 years. I currently offer personal and professional development workshops under the name of Transformative Groups, sponsored by the Association for Humanistic Psychology and consult within a global community. I have developed projects which intersect and support this community and continue to be in creative service.

Practicing 'Green Compassion": How Do You Stack Up?

When I wrote my book, The Compassionate Life, I never suspected the words I'd put on the page would get so deep under my skin. But hanging out with the folks who do the heart's heavy lifting -- homeless shelter workers, kidney…

Inviting Your Support - A Holiday Heart Connection

I am inviting you to make a holiday heart connection for a community in crisis. I am collecting comments to send onto this troubled Toronto, Ontario community based facility, an in patient long term care and out patient adult community day care for stroke victims. Usually just a visit to this home will break open the heart and widen the eyes to the suffering of the elderly and disabled. The staff are those amazing unsung heros who live compassionate action daily for the sake of it. The nursing… Continue

Hi Susan,
Thank you for joining the Call to Caring group - it's wonderful to already have support from our community.

I also see that you've RSVPd for the 12/17 Thurs meeting and wanted to let you know that this meeting is a follow up mtg that was intended for a smaller sub-group of the Call to Caring and I'm not sure that it would be useful to you.

I'd like to talk more with you about where we are in the Call to Caring planning phase and how we can work together. Can we touch base either by phone or CAN? I've sent you a friend request so we can exchange info.

I look forward to further connecting with you,
~martha

I have to figure out first how to do that :) Today's my first day here.
Thank you for your kind words.
I'm the faith and values writer for the Kitsap Sun. I've been working on behalf of the homeless for a couple years through our Continuum of Care Coalition and our local branch of The Salvation Army. You can learn some about what's happening in Kitsap County re our homeless by Googling my name.
I believe I read something today about your beginning I think it was an 8 week study: with Marc. Wow! I want to bring that sort of thing to our neck of the woods.
Would it be possible to get your home email? I will try to get back to this forum soon, but in the meantime I'd like to send you some stuff and ask some questions.
Thank you so much for contacting me.
Blessings ~
Sally.

SHAMANIC JOURNEY flyer, 12-12-08.doc

Hi, Susan,

Thanks! so much for posting the email you received from your Yup'iaq friend in Alaska. I was tremendously moved by his words.

Especially, "We do face the mythology of western progress dead on in the face..." and "There is no separation between the tropical rainforest and the northern rainforest as a continuous living being..."

I am Founder/Organizer for One Earth Climate Action Group, based in Seattle. We are leaders of the NW biofuels resistance movement. A primary focus of ours is protection of our shared rainforests. As you know, biofuels are a leading cause of rainforest destruction.

You may not know the City of Seattle and the State of Washington are major biofuel consumers and polluters. We were instrumental last year in having King County Metro drop all biofuels from its buses. This was a wonderful victory for All of Us!

One Earth employs a variety of strategies to promote Earth Healing, including Shamanic Journey workshops. I'm trying now to send you a flyer from our most recent workshops so you can better sense what we are about.

Please let me know if the flyer does not attach.

Also, I am very interested in learning more about Pachamama's work in the NW. Could we meet to see how our groups might help each other?

Certainly, if we are to successfully resist "the mythology of western progress" we need to collaborate and create community. It sounds like you are already doing a wonderful job in this arena.
